Challenges and the Way Forward

Despite its advantages, the uptake of Udyam Registration in the MSME community remains uneven. Many small businesses, particularly in rural areas, are unaware of its benefits or face digital barriers in registration. There is also a need for better capacity-building initiatives to help MSMEs navigate the complexities of government tendering, such as understanding tender documents, preparing bids, and meeting quality and compliance standards.

Going forward, a collaborative approach involving government departments, industry associations, and financial institutions can help expand awareness and ensure that MSMEs fully leverage Udyam Registration to participate in public procurement.
