Today, I’m sharing two charming Easter basket SVG files that you can easily create out of paper. These baskets are just the right size to fill with plastic Easter eggs, candies, or any other small surprises. With just some cardstock and a Cricut machine, you’ll have beautiful baskets ready to share with family and friends.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through the steps to make these cute Easter baskets. If you make one, don’t forget to share it in my crafting group or tag me on social media. I’m always excited to see how your creations turn out!

Why Paper Easter Baskets?

Crafting your own Easter baskets is a great way to add a personal touch to your holiday celebrations. Not only are these baskets cost-effective, but they also allow for creativity and customization. Plus, they’re environmentally friendly since you’ll be using paper instead of plastic. These DIY paper baskets are perfect for Easter egg hunts or to give as thoughtful gifts.

If you’re working with a large group or need smaller baskets, I also offer a smaller Easter basket template for larger gatherings. You might also want to check out my popular Easter candy holders for another fun project.

Let’s dive into the tutorial!

Step 1: Upload the Easter Basket SVG File to Cricut Design Space

The first step in creating your Easter basket is to upload the SVG file to Cricut Design Space. If you’re unfamiliar with how to upload SVG files, don’t worry—I have a helpful tutorial that walks you through it.

Once your file is uploaded, you’ll need to “ungroup” all of the layers. You’ll notice lines on top of the basket layers—these lines are your score lines, which guide the folds. Change the operation of these lines to “score” so the Cricut will create the necessary fold marks.

After that, select both the score line and the layer underneath it, and click “attach.” This will ensure that the score line stays in place while the Cricut does its magic.

Step 2: Add Scrapbook Paper for Extra Detail

Now that your basket shape is cut, it’s time to add some decorative flair. Identify which side of the basket will be the outside and glue your chosen scrapbook paper to this side. The scrapbook paper will give your basket extra character and make it stand out. Feel free to get creative here—there are countless patterns and colors you can choose from!

Step 3: Assemble Your Paper Basket

With your pieces ready, it’s time to assemble the basket. Start by folding along all of the score lines that were created by the Cricut. These folds will help shape your basket.

Next, focus on the sides: apply glue to the side tabs and fold them inward, pressing them against the basket’s walls to secure the shape. For the base, glue the bottom tabs together to form a solid bottom for your basket. You should now have an open-topped box shape.

Step 4: Assemble the Bunny or Chick Decoration

No Easter basket is complete without a fun decoration! Whether you choose the bunny or the chick, this step is all about adding a cute, festive element to the basket.

For the bunny, begin by gluing the gray layer of the bunny onto the pink layer. Next, glue the black layer onto the gray, followed by the white layer on top. Don’t forget to add the bunny’s tooth for an extra adorable touch!

To create the bow, add glue to the center circle and loop one side of the bow into the middle. Repeat with the other side, holding the pieces together for a few seconds until the glue sets.

Step 5: Attach the Bunny or Chick to Your Basket

Now that your bunny or chick is assembled, it’s time to attach it to the front of your Easter basket. Simply glue the decoration to the front, and voilà—you’ve got an adorable Easter basket ready to be filled!

Finish off your project by adding some Easter grass to the basket. Then, fill it with all of your favorite Easter goodies—whether that’s candy, small toys, or even a special handwritten note.
